Born into a family of artists, Wei is a national certified senior teacher of Guzheng, a member of the Chinese National Instrumental Association and a member of the International Guzheng Association. In addition to her rich performance background, her formal education has been through the Department of music, Communication University of China, the University of China Guzheng College for Master .Wei's employment of the seven-tone Guzheng offers groundbreaking possibilities to play in western sound worlds, breaking the usual pentatonic limitations of traditional Chinese instruments. Since her arrival in New York in 2016, she has been invited to perform at the Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, United Nations, Pace University, Columbia University, Merkin Concert Hall, Flushing Townhall, Queens College Art Center, to name a few.

出生於藝術世家，孙薇是中國國家認證的古箏高級教師、中國民族管弦樂學會會員以及國際古箏協會會員。除演奏經歷豐富外，她還接受了系統的專業教育，先後就讀於中國傳媒大學音樂系及中國古箏學院碩士課程。她擅長運用七聲音階古箏，突破傳統五聲音階的限制，拓展古箏在西方音樂語境中的表現力與可能性，開創了新的演奏維度。自2016年來到紐約以來，她受邀於卡內基音樂廳、林肯中心、聯合國、佩斯大學、哥倫比亞大學、梅金音樂廳、法拉盛市政廳、皇后學院藝術中心等地演出，備受讚譽。
