Shihyun Chen is one of the two founding members of Celadon Youth. Her journey with traditional Chinese music began in high school through her school’s Chinese music club, where she first discovered a profound connection to the expressive beauty of Chinese music. Since 2010, Shihyun has been a member of the Chinese Music Ensemble of New York, performing on the erhu (Chinese violin) and zhonghu (Chinese viola), contributing both musically and visually as a performer and graphic designer.

Trained in both fine arts and architecture, Shihyun holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from Pratt Institute and a Master of Architecture from Columbia University. Her multidisciplinary background informs her artistic expression, allowing her to blend visual and musical storytelling with a deep appreciation for cultural heritage.

Shihyun currently volunteers with the Education Department at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, helping to bridge art and science through hands-on experiences. Professionally, Shihyun serves as an executive administrator in the pharmaceutical industry and has held previous roles in architectural design, arts education, and cultural programming. Her diverse experience reflects a lifelong commitment to creativity, cross-cultural engagement, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
